NeuroMonitor
The benefits of brain function monitoring in hospital ICU or neonatal units are well known. Brain injury is a serious and constant threat to patients. The introduction of amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG) 40 years ago offered a way to monitor for brain function. However, the aEEG machines offered no access to raw data and routine EEG machines are generally considered too complex to be practical in the NICU, ICU or Neonatal dep.
The NicoletOne Monitor (Nervus NeuroMonitor) extracts useful information from the EEG traces for easy interpretation by NICU staff and neurologists/ neonatalogists, allowing them to get instant access to the underlying EEG by a click on the screen. The system is specifically designed with the challenges of this environment in mind. The unpredictability of the condition of NICU patients calls for continuous monitoring of EEG. NicoletOne Monitor is a cost effective, easy to use, sophisticated EEG system, fully compatible with the NicoletOne (Nervus) line to increase the quality of patient care.
Clinical applications
BenefitsThe Trend Overview gives a compressed view of long EEG recordings. This visual presentation of the data makes it easy to observe changes in EEG patterns over hours or days of monitoring. Two targeted features of the EEG are amplitude and frequency content.
A touch on an area of interest in the Trend Overview takes you instantly to that page on the EEG trace display providing instant access to the whole recording.
Doctors have been counting bursts per minute and interburst intervals on paper EEG for years. Number of bursts per minute has been associated to level of consciousness due to head trauma or drugs. This pattern and sedation titration can be monitored with burst suppression parameters of NicoletOne Monitor system. These parameters are:
